Jean Claude Desvaux de Marigny was born in Mauritius and educated at St. Joseph College in Curepipe. He completed his studies in Durban, (South Africa) at the Natal Technical College. After many years spent in South Africa, where he nurtured his love for art, he discovered the medium of glass and fell in love with it, subsequently working and learning from well-known glass artists. Jean Claude and his wife moved back to Mauritius where he pursues what he loves most – art in many forms. He has a small art studio at Roches Noires from where he works and where his works are on display for both viewing and purchasing. You are welcome to visit the studio during working hours or by appointment. He also makes pieces to order in the various mediums in which he works. A selection of handmade glass pieces, silver jewellery and paintings in oil, acrylic and watercolors can be viewed. Jean Claude is a qualified teacher in many glass crafts and also art clay silver.
